Now playing. On my iPod.

I have slightly unusual tastes when it comes to music. Half of the stuff on my iPod (thanks Mum, Dad & Auntie again) isn't even music, it's sermony type talks.

* African live worship - from two Mozambican villages
* Coldplay - one album's worth of favourite hits
* Hillsong United - more conventional live worship (did I just equate 'Hillsong youth' with 'conventional'?!)
* Friends' albums: Susan Perks, Lifesize, Jenny Rose-Wilson & Tara Taylor
* TD Jakes - preacher extraordinaire
* Maroon 5
* 24-7prayer 'This Means War' album - I am LOVING it

Congrats to Jenny Wren on the acquisition, finally, of an iPod mini. Even though it's blue...?

Jon is thirty, but...

I'm now thirty. But that didn't stop the man who came to read the electric meter last week from asking me if my parents were in.

'I need their permission before I step inside,' he said innocently.

Biscuit of the Week 3: The Malted Milk

Maltedmilk

I quote: 'The Cow biscuit. Fantastic. Best biscuit graphics ever... Look at it, its a got a big standing up cow and a little sitting down one. The skilled cow biscuit eater will be able to nibble off the outer bits of the biscuit to leave just the cows, which surely are the most delicious bits.'

Click on the biccie for more. Don't forget the replies too, including variants like the lesser-spotted chocolate malted milk.

Nicecupofteaandasitdown.com

Today, in a tribute to Vera Drake's love of a nice cup of tea ("better put the kettle on then..."), I'm pleased to bring you our first ever biscuit of the week, courtesy of nicecupofteaandasitdown.com. Biscuit enthusiasts please note: biscuits will not necessarily appear every week, neither will the biscuit of the week on this site necessarily correspond to the biscuit of the week on the original website, or other related tea/biscuit/cake websites. Thank you.

Biscuit of the Week: Custard Cream

Custardcream

The choice of the humble custard cream as the first featured BOTW on this blog is tenuously connected to my new About page short essay.

However, for some of the finest custard cream prose around, there is really no substitute for the nicecupofteaandasitdown website itself: "Its baroque embossing harks back to an earlier time where the Custard Cream was no doubt a sophisticated biscuit, not the old faithful its become today..."
