Grace is 14 days old and due for a major operation on Wed. This extract is from a friend's email updates. Please pray for life, breath, healing and hope:
There has been an amazing turnaround of Grace's status since my rather more urgent call for people to pray last Friday. She has been taken completely off the nitric oxide, without severe effect, and the hospital have now identified a 'window of opportunity' in which to perform the operation to correct the underlying hernia in her diaphragm, since they feel she is currently stable enough to undergo general anaesthetic.
Quick update:
Operation went ahead yesterday afternoon, successfully. Estimated 2 hours - but it went so smoothly it was completed in 1 hour. Grace had an uneventful night last night, which is obviously really good news.
Please keep praying for infection to be kept at bay. With gratitude.

Another brief update, Sunday 18th:
"Two wonderful things happened yesterday: at 7.30pm Grace was transferred to a conventional ventilator, and coped with the move beautifully, and at 11pm Linda (her mum) was able to have her first cuddle with Grace. Both these events have gone to show just how far Grace has progressed in the last few days, and one of the nurses has described Grace as a 'miracle'."
Thank you God.

And again: "Grace had a really good night last night, and is currently progressing at an incredible rate. She is now breathing normal air (21% oxygen). She has been taken completely off the morphine, and is now just on paracetemol. Her blood gases are excellent. One of the nurses even thought she had a smile from her! ... Yesterday's prayer pointers still remain of course, as Grace is still in the first week following a major operation. However, for those of you praying, please join us, not only in continuing to pray for Grace's recovery, but also in thanking God for all the answered prayer we have already seen. She is now moving at a faster rate than the hospital ever expected her to. They are simply amazed!"
